a small town, tropical paradise
Nicaragua’s #1 Tourist spot
Welcome to San Juan Del Sur, a small town with a very big personality, on Nicaragua’s southwest coast. Known for its bright and colourful vibe and its fun and light-hearted atmosphere, San Juan del Sur attracts visitors not just from abroad, but from distant parts of Nicaragua as well.
Amongst the best features of San Juan del Sur is its string of popular beaches that have something to offer to everyone, surfers, beach-goers and families alike. At night, the main port beach in town is often busy with volleyball clubs, bonfires and couples lazily strolling its shore.

Travel isn’t always pretty
It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.

LA LANCHA
Paseo del Rey Malecón, Del Hotel Estrella 50 Metros Al Sur, San Juan del Sur 48600 Nicaragua
One of San Juans’ true beach-front restaurants, La Lancha has a busy and diverse menu and a long list of positive Google reviews that speak to its popularity.
Unlike some restaurants on the main beach strip, La Lancha is always busy (not so much so that you can’t get a table, but enough so you can see that other people enjoy the food), and always tasty.
Oh, did I mention the affordable prices and large portions? That helps too.
SABORES DE MI PATIO
742J+RHP, Callel El Estudiante, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Sabores de mi Patio is a bit of a hidden gem. If I hadn’t had the location revealed to me by friends who been there, I’m not sure how much longer it would have taken me to find it.
Like La Luncha, the prices are great for the generous portions, and the food is always a hit. The pork rib plate, mixed grilled sausage plate and their Sunday soup are fantastic.
